“Less a documentary than a time-capsule heartbeat” — The gripping silent film Under Four Flags (1918) was released six days after Armistice. The film, accompanied by Max Caplan’s gripping score, is at the center of this program presented by the award-winning winning Musicians of Ma’alywyck, who celebrate 25 years of creating innovative chamber programs for the Capital Region. The evening also inclues music of Romanian composer Mihail Jora and the piano quintet To A Soldier of Samuel Gardner, which is dedicated to American violinist David Hochstein, who died in the front lines in France in October 1918.
