• Jackson DuBois Public Lecture

    In 2023 Jackson spent three months working on the reconstruction of the spire of the 850 year-old Notre Dame de Paris in a workshop in the Loire Valley. He was one of a handful of Americans invited to work on the project. Jackson, who is guiding the Artworks timber framing project, will speak about his experience working with centuries-old tools using traditional methods to honor the original builders. Jackson lives in Central New York and has spent his career building and designing custom timber frames and doing architectural restoration work.

  • Timber Frame Workshop

    July 10, 11, and 12, 2026

    An age-old craft used around the world, timber-framing produces structures of exceptional structural durability and aesthetic appeal. Artworks is partnering with the Timber Framers Guild to construct a traditional timber-frame outdoor stage next to the historic Star Theater. Over three days, community members will have the opportunity to learn traditional joinery while helping build a permanent performance space for theater, music, lectures, and community events. The build will culminate in a public timber-frame raising celebration.

  • Eat the Document Songbook

    Acclaimed novelist Dana Spiotta wrote EAT THE DOCUMENT, Eat the Document — a story of activism, sacrifice, and the cost of living a secret — while living and working in Cherry Valley. The story of activists in the 1970s and 1990s inspired an opera that premiered as part of the 2025 PROTOTYPE Festival (NYC), with a recording out on Bright Shiny Things in May 2026. Soprano Natalie Trumm and pianist Mila Henry, joined by special guests, perform singles from the new opera in this cabaret-style performance.
